Urban Farm, United Methodist Children’s Home

Contracted by the City of Decatur to be the first of the city-supported urban agriculture projects, Sustenance Design proposed and designed fifteen acres of the central UMCH property to be healing, organic production farm. The farm was implemented in 2010 by Global Growers Network, a non-profit organization of refugee farmers, who maintain the farm. Food is consumed by residents in the cafeteria and sold to neighbors, and a farm program for youth to engage in healthy outdoor activities and food production has been established.
